Student and tutor views on online tutorials within policing apprenticeship academic modules
The OU’s policing apprenticeship programmes offer a mixture of face-to-face day schools and shorter online tutorials for students. This project will explore student participation in the online policing tutorials, with the aim of better understanding which pedagogical approach is most appropriate for the online tutorials on the modules; whether ‘one size fits all’ or certain modules require differentiation; how to better support Academic Tutors with online tutorial preparation; how to improve student experience on the modules.
The research questions that this project aims to address are:
- What are the students’ views/likes/dislikes in online tutorials.
- What is the student participation in online tutorials.
- Whether there are any barriers to student participation in online tutorials.
- Whether there is a difference between modules, specifically with respect to level of study and type of programme, regarding student participation and student preference for types of activities they value in the online tutorial.
