Assessing the effectiveness of targeted forum activities in relation to student retention

report
posted on 2024-06-26, 09:24 authored by Emilie Rutledge, Roberto Simonetti, Julia Chukwuma

This research will add to the discourse on factors that influence student retention on distance learning courses in Higher Education (HE) (see, e.g., Burke, 2019; Martin, Wang and Sadaf, 2018; Yorke, 2004; Aljohani, 2016). It will do so by considering engagement and retention levels in relation to the targeted online forum activities being offered on an undergraduate level course. In so doing, it will build upon the research conducted in this area by authors such as Nandi, Hamilton and Harland (2012), Mokoena (2013), Baxter and Haycock (2014), Griffin and Roy (2022) and Pinchbeck and Heaney (2022).
