A student mental health confidence framework for Associate Lecturers

Background: The Mental Health Foundation report (2016) highlights that every week, 1 in 6 adults experiences a common mental health problem, such as anxiety or depression and 1 in 5 adults has considered taking their own life at some point. Alongside this, the number of students disclosing mental health as a disability within the Open University has increased over recent years.

Aim:

Following on from scholarship undertaken in 2020/2021 that explored the knowledge and skills of WELS associate lecturers in relation to supporting students with a mental health difficulty this project aims to co-create a student mental health confidence framework for Associate Lecturers.
