The purpose of the project is to allow student nurses to engage with a simulated experience of clinical skills using game-based learning developed by the Open University LDS Innovation team. Students will be provided with opportunities to engage in a virtual reality environment to undertake a range of nursing skills through simulation-based education. These skills students will practice are required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council Future Nurse Standards of Proficiency for registered nurses and include venepuncture, medicines administration and communication. Simulation-based education is an exciting new development for the nursing programme within the university providing a simulated environment to practice key skills.
